Can I attend the cremation?
Unfortunately, direct cremations cannot accommodate attendees.
If you wanted to arrange a traditional service, then please contact M Tomlin & Son Independent Funeral Directors.

Is there a choice of coffin?
No, the coffin provided is a veneered oak coffin.

Can I visit my loved one in the chapel of rest?
To keep the costs for the direct cremation as low as they are, we are unable to arrange visits. If this is something that you would want to do, then a more traditional service would be better for you.

Can we have a service with the coffin in the church before the cremation?
A direct cremation allows for no service before the cremation. If this is something that you would want, you can arrange a more suitable package with M Tomlin & Son

How do I pay for a direct cremation?
All direct cremations will need to be paid for in full before the day of the cremation.

Will the social fund pay for direct cremations?
Dependent on your circumstance the social fund would easily cost the cover of a direct cremation, however, we would need the payment before the cremation and the social fund can take some time to process the payment. If this is the case, alternative funding would need to be arranged.

Where will the cremation happen, and can I pick a date and time?
The date and location of the cremation will be at our discretion, and we let you know the time and location once it has been booked.

Can I send flowers?
One small tribute can be included on the coffin, and we are able to place you in contact with local florists if you wish.

What happens to my loved one’s ashes?
There are two options available to you once the direct cremation has taken place:
You can have the ashes returned to you, and we will bring these to you between 9am-5pm Monday to Friday.
Or
You can choose to have your loved one’s ashes scattered at the crematorium.
